Biography
Michael Fuller Sirignano received his Jurist Doctor degree from Pace Law School in 1979. A Law Review Editor of Notes and Comments, he also represented his law school in the National Moot Court Competition. Upon graduation, the Hon. Carl A. Vergari appointed him to serve as a Westchester County Assistant District Attorney. He first worked in the Appeals Bureau and later in the Rackets Bureau.
In 1981 Mr. Sirignano became associated with the White Plains firm of Stephens & Buderwitz where he served as legal counsel to the North Castle Zoning Board of Appeals. He subsequently joined the litigation department of McCarthy Fingar Donovan Drazen & Smith where he was assigned to handle motions, trials and appeals in real estate, banking and commercial matters.
In 1985 he opened his private practice in both White Plains and Cross River. He was appointed Deputy Town Attorney of the Town of Lewisboro and also served as special litigation counsel to the Town of Rye, the County of Westchester and the Putnam County Board of Ethics. He soon developed an active trial and appeals practice, prosecuting plaintiff personal injury cases in both New York State and Federal Courts.
He won an important 4-3 decision from New York’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, in San Marco v Village/Town of Mount Kisco, 16 NY3d 111. He was subsequently asked to lecture on the implications of the decision before the Municipal Law Section of the Westchester County Bar Association. Mr. Sirignano’s practice also includes real estate and mortgage transactions, as well as representing property owners and developers before planning and zoning boards and wetland commissions throughout Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties. He enjoys the highest AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was recently named a “Super Lawyer” by legal publisher Thomson Reuters as a top attorney practicing land use/zoning law in the New York Metro Area.
He was admitted to the New York State Bar (Second Judicial Department) in 1980 as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the Westchester, New York State and American Bar Associations.
Michael also served as both a member and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Westchester Community College.
